Terms of use

These terms govern your use of EnergyCalcHQ, operated by Divakar B. Using the site means you accept them.

The important one first

These calculators are engineering aids, not engineering advice. They are intended for preliminary sizing, estimation and checking. They are not a substitute for a qualified engineer, a protection study, or the manufacturer's data for the equipment you are actually installing.

Electrical work carries real risk of fire, injury and death. Anything you take from this site must be verified against the applicable standards and approved by a licensed engineer before it is built, energised or signed.

Accuracy

We take care with the formulas and reference data, and we correct errors promptly when they are reported. We do not warrant that the content is accurate, complete or current.

Cable current ratings and derating factors used here are representative values. Actual ratings vary between manufacturers and with installation conditions. Always confirm against the datasheet for the specific product being installed.

Liability

The site is provided as-is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, anything published here. You are responsible for verifying any result before acting on it.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. That carve-out is not a formality on a site about electrical work, and it is stated because a disclaimer that tried to cover those things would be worth less than one that does not: a clause reaching further than the law allows can be struck out in full, taking the enforceable part with it.

Acceptable use

Use the calculators freely for your own work, commercial or otherwise. Do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, and do not republish the articles wholesale. Quoting a section with a link back is welcome.

Comments and enquiries

Comments on articles are published after review. By posting one you confirm the words are yours to post, and you give us permission to publish them alongside the article, with the name you posted under and without payment. Your email address is not published. You can ask us to remove a comment at any time.

We may decline to publish a comment, or remove one already published, without giving a reason. In practice that means spam, abuse, advertising, and anything that identifies a third party or a client site without their agreement — the last one being the easiest to post by accident on a site where the examples are real installations.

Sending an enquiry through a calculator form starts a conversation; it does not create a contract, and nothing in a reply is a quotation unless it says so. Please do not send anything confidential or commercially sensitive through these forms.

Content ownership

Articles and calculator implementations on this site are our own work. Standard formulas and figures published in national and international standards are not, and are used here as engineering references with the standard cited.

Links

Where we link to other sites, we do not control them and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Changes

These terms may change. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applying in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, and any dispute arising from them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts there.
